An Affiliate Checks me Out

Saturday, April 4, 2009

I met a new friend on BlogCatalog ... I listed this blog there after starting it and noticed this the other day:

What this shows is my BlogCatalog profile, which includes a 'recent viewers' section. There's only one recent viewer (thanks, I guess ...), and that individual appears to be 'FreeGrantKit'.

Mistake, mister. Your site has been added to the grant scam site blacklist.

This affiliate appears to be promoting grant kit programs with a decently designed blog-type site which he calls 'Free Government Grants':

That smells fishy already. And in this nick of the woods there are no points for design. Lets take a closer look at the site:

What we have here is a blog-style affiliate site. Nothing wrong with that in its essence, but since I am dealing with grant money and grant kit scams here, I can not ignore the type of affiliate programs this individual is willingly embracing in the name of earning commission dollars. In effect this site is nothing better than, say, freegrantinfo.us or legitimategrants.com.

The screenshot above shows part of the list of programs that are 'recommended'; they're the ones you may have seen mentioned before here: grantnow.com, Grant Seeker Secrets, etc. He lists some others but the affiliate links all lead to the aforementioned grant scampanies.

The site does not look like a typical affiliate landing page, which usually is a one page sales pitch. No, this site is full of blog-style fluff 'articles', which all try to funnel the visitor into the grant kit signup pipeline.

While I was adding this site to the blacklist, I noticed that the person running this site is in Bosnia.

Once again, we see a foreign individual trying to cash in on US Consumers through deceptive affiliate marketing.

I give Mr. Hums AKA 'FreeGrantKit' an F, for malicious effort.
